Talley Gallery to present works of William M. Andrus

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Sept. 9, 2009) — Kentucky native William M. Andrus will present an exhibition entitled “Colorful” in the Talley Gallery of the Education Arts Complex on the campus of Bemidji State University from Tuesday, Sept. 15 through Thursday, Oct. 8.

Andrus is an experimental painter who uses the power of color to elicit a meditative dialogue between artist and viewer. His paintings are not representational and are not trying to make a particular statement; his work is purely about the emotional response of the viewer to color and color placement. Andrus’ uninhibited use of color and the ambiguous space are meant to open an unending and unfettered discourse.

An opening reception will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15 from noon to 3 p.m.

In conjunction with the exhibition’s final day, Andrus will present a lecture on his painting technique at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, in the painting studio located in Education Arts 112. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Located in room 212 of the Education Arts building on the campus of Bemidji State University, the Talley Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The gallery is barrier-free and is open at no charge to the public.
