Local Student serves as assistant FYRE coordinator

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Oct. 28, 2011) — Bemidji State University’s assistant First-Year Resident Experience (FYRE) coordinators assist the FYRE coordinator in developing, administering, and evaluating the program. They work together with the other Residential Life and FYRE staff to assess the needs of FYRE students and FYE Seminar classes, and develop programs to enhance student learning.

Assistant FYRE coordinators (AFCs) also coordinate Academic Resource Center activities, assist in putting together the FYRE newsletter and other marketing materials, and assist in facilitating FYRE orientation.

This year’s AFCs are Jake Mack, a senior majoring in science education from Big Lake, Minn., and Kelsy Lavrenz, a senior majoring in elementary education from Roosevelt, Minn.

Bemidji State’s FYRE program is a freshman residential program designed to enhance the living, learning and social experience of first-year students at the University.
