Six-week event series planned for Women's History Month

BEMIDJI, Minn. - Bemidji State University, the BSU Women's Studies Program and the BSU Women's Resource Center will host or be involved with a six-week series of activities to celebrate March as Women's History Month, beginning Feb. 25 and ending April 5. The events range from an open house at the BSU Women's Center to a presentation of "The Vagina Monologues."

On-campus events surrounding the Women's History Month celebration include:

• Feb. 25; 11 a.m.-1 p.m. - BSU Women's Center open house; Lower Union.

• Feb. 29; 7-9 p.m. - Dust & Fire Reception; American Indian Resource Center.

• March 1; 11 a.m.-2 p.m. - Northwest Minnesota Women's Hall of Fame induction ceremony; Beaux Arts Ballroom.

• March 4; noon-1 p.m. - Brown Bag lunch: "Waste Not, Want Not," by Colleen Greer and Carla Norris-Raynbird; Viking Room, Lower Union.

• March 5; 7 p.m. - Women on Wednesday film series, "Thunderbird Woman," a biography of Winona LaDuke; American Indian Resource Center.

• March 18; noon-1 p.m. - Brown Bag Lunch: "Writers Who Care About the Environment," by Erika Johnson and Anna Carlson; Viking Room, Lower Union.

• March 19; 7 p.m. - Women on Wednesday film series, "Erin Brockovich," American Indian Resource Center.

• March 25; noon-1 p.m. - Brown Bag Lunch: "Babes and the Woods: Women's Objectification and the Feminine Ideal as Ecological Hazards," by Dr. Britan A. Scott; Viking Room, Lower Union.

• March 28-29, 7:30 p.m. -"The Vagina Monologues," Beaux Arts Ballroom.

• April 1; 6 p.m. - Women on Wednesday film series, "Taafe Fanga (Skirt Power)," Hagg-Sauer Hall 100.

• April 2; noon-1 p.m. - Brown Bag Lunch: "Women's Reproductive Health," by Jan Maas and Barb Eriksson-Capes; Viking Room, Lower Union.
