Bemidji State University to host approximately 30 students from Minnesota State University Moorhead

BEMIDJI, Minn. — Due to rising flood waters in the Red River Valley, Bemidji State University will be hosting approximately 30 students from Minnesota State University Moorhead in student housing.

Minnesota State University Moorhead President Edna Mora Szymanski contacted University President Dr. Jon E. Quistgaard earlier today requesting residential space to accommodate students from Minnesota State Moorhead. The two presidents had been in contact over the past several weeks regarding how Bemidji State might be of assistance to its sister institution.

Earlier today, the administration at Minnesota State Moorhead requested that all residential students make arrangements to leave campus as soon as possible. While the campus is currently dry, forecasts are predicting the possibility of a minor water invasion. In addition, conditions in the surrounding area could impact sewer and water service to the campus and make potential evacuation at a later time more difficult.

The Minnesota State Moorhead students will remain at Bemidji State for an undetermined period of time.

Bemidji State University and Minnesota State University Moorhead are part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.
