BEMIDJI, Minn. (November 2, 2009) — Upcoming events at the Bemidji State University Center for Research and Innovation include the final Academy of Lifelong Learning lecture of the fall; a Natural Resources Consortium presentation on Geographic Information Systems; and a Northern Minnesota Safety Council presentation on distracted driving.
All events are held at the Center for Research and Innovation, 3801 Bemidji Ave. N., Bemidji.
Academy of Lifelong Learning lecture: “Trials and Tribulations of a Playwright”
Presenter: Roy C. Booth, writer, journalist and comedian.
Booth, an accomplished playwright with more than 40 published plays, will explore the inspiration to write. Booth will encourage participants to consider their own personal experiences and to examine the message you want to deliver to your audience. The presentation may also include a world premier of a new 10-minute play by Booth.

Natural Resources Consortium: “New Developments in Geographic Information Systems”
Presenter: Shelly Sentyrz, Geographic Information Systems coordinator, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources

Presenter: Scott Mattfield, Minnesota State Trooper
Distracted driving increases the risk for everyone on the road. Mattfield’s lecture will include a DVD presentation and a discussion on the risks and realities of distracted driving.
