Minneapolis native wins BSU’s Beck P.E. Graduate Student Scholarship

BEMIDJI, Minn. (May 24, 2010) – Pamela Findlay, a graduate student in sport studies at Bemidji State University, has been chosen as the 2010 recipient of the Beck P.E. Graduate Student Scholarship.

The Beck Scholarship was established in the name of Dr. Marjory C. Beck, professor emerita of physical education at Bemidji State, to foster scholarly achievement among the graduate students of the Department of Physical Education, Health and Sport.

Beck chaired BSU’s Department of Women’s Physical Education and directed the Department of Physical Education, Health and Sport’s graduate department for years.

The Beck Scholarship is awarded annually to the graduate student with the best thesis proposal. The department’s graduate faculty members independently evaluate the quality of all written thesis proposals, oral presentations and proposal discussions. Based on the criteria, Findlay’s proposal was chosen as the best for the 2009-10 academic year.

For more information, contact the Department of Physical Education, Health and Sport at (218) 755-2940.
