BEMIDJI, Minn. (Dec. 17, 2010) — For the 14th year, Bemidji State University will host “Northern Lights,” an evening of dinner, music, dancing and friends for its annual Snow Ball scholarship fundraiser for the Department of Music. The 2011 Snow Ball will be held Saturday, Jan. 29 in the Beaux Arts Ballroom of Bemidji State’s Hobson Memorial Union.
The event, which is black-tie optional, begins with a social hour at 6 p.m. Dinner gets underway at 7 p.m. and the dance with BSU’s Jazz I begins at 8:15 p.m. Tickets for dinner and the dance are $60, while dance-only tickets are available for $30. RSVPs are due to the Department of Music by Friday, Jan. 21. Tickets are available at the Department of Music office in Bangsberg Hall on the Bemidji State campus, or by calling (218) 755-2915.
Entertainment will be provided by BSU Jazz I and vocalists, under the direction of Dr. Steven Konecne, professor of music.
The evening’s dinner menu features seafood-stuffed walleye in lemon cream sauce with wild rice and vegetables, orange citrus carrots and spinach pear salad. A vegetarian meal option of lasagna florentine is also available. Dessert will be panacotta with blueberries and raspberries.
In addition, the Snow Ball will include a silent auction featuring items donated by area artists, businesses and individuals. Guests may dedicate a dance to a family member or friend, or to celebrate a special occasion by making a $100 donation to further support the scholarship program. All dedications will be announced at the time of the dance.
