Small Business Development Center to offer pair of Quickbooks courses

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Feb. 2, 2011) — The Northwest Minnesota Small Business Development Center, an external program of Bemidji State University’s College of Business, Technology and Communication, will offer two courses on Quickbooks software in February.

Feb. 9 - Introduction to QuickBooks

This full-day seminar will cover the very basics of Intuit’s QuickBooks accounting software, targeted toward people having little experience with computers, bookkeeping or the Quickbooks software. Participants will learn how to set up a new company in Quickbooks, write and print checks, bills and invoices and how to track customers and vendors. The course will also explain different types of accounts and the basics of financial statements.

The course will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 9, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Optivation’s 3801 Bemidji Ave. N. campus in Bemidji. Registration for the course is $89, with a $10 discount if registered prior to Feb. 2; computers will be provided and lunch is included in the registration fee. Space is limited, so advance registration is requested.

Feb. 16 - Advanced QuickBooks

This full-day seminar will explore some of the more advanced features found in Quickbooks. Participants should have prior knowledge of the Quickbooks software, including how to enter checks, invoices and bills. Participants will learn how to reconcile bank accounts, set up a budget and perform credit card transactions. The course will present information about understanding profit/loss statements, balance sheets and budgets, and also show how individual transactions impact final financial statements.

The course will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Optivation’s 3801 Bemidji Ave. N. campus in Bemidji. Registration for the course is $89, with a $10 discount if registered prior to Feb. 9; computers will be provided and lunch is included in the registration fee.
