OPC to offer sailing clinic, Lake Bemidji canoe trip

BEMIDJI, Minn. - Bemidji State University’s Outdoor Program Center (OPC) will offer two events in early September, an introductory sailing clinic on Tuesday, Sept. 2 and a canoe trip on Lake Bemidji on Wednesday, Sept. 3.

• Sailing Clinic

Designed for beginners, the Sept. 2 sailing clinic will cover basic knots, sailboat rigging and handling. Students will get a chance to sail. The session will last three hours, from 2-5 p.m.

Attendees should bring a swimsuit and towel and prepare to get wet. Each clinic can take up to 12 students, and pre-registration is required. The sessions will begin at the OPC boathouse in Bemidji’s Diamond Point Park.

• Canoe Trip

The OPC will lead a canoe paddle on Lake Bemidji, starting from the Diamond Point Park boathouse, at 3 p.m. on Sept. 3.

The trip will last approximately two hours and will conclude at the boathouse.
