BEMIDJI, Minn. (Dec. 3, 2010) — Bemidji State University’s Gillett Recreation and Fitness Center will offer swimming lessons to swimmers of all abilities beginning in January.
Lessons cost $52 per session and will be held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. To register, contact Duane Biehn, associate director of campus recreation, at (218) 755-4140.
Lessons will be held in three sessions; Session 1 will be held Jan. 18-Feb. 10; Session 2 will be held from March 15-April 7; and Session 3 will be held from April 12-May 5. Each session will include four different skill levels in 35-minute lessons beginning at 4 p.m. and ending at 6:50 p.m.
Level 1 lessons will be held from 4-4:35 p.m.; Level 2 from 4:45-5:20 p.m.; Level 3 from 5:30-6:05 p.m.; and Level 4 from 6:15-6:50 p.m.
Skill levels follow criteria set by the American Red Cross. Level 1 is an introduction to water skills designed to help students feel comfortable in the water; Level 2 provides fundamental acquatic skills; Level 3 focuses on stroke development and Level 4 on stroke improvement.
