Patrick Luber, a professor sculpture at the University of North Dakota, will open an exhibition of his work entitled, "Speaking Through Objects," which features reliefs from Luber's milagro series. A milagro is a folk charm offered as a petition or an offering of thanks by practitioners of the Catholic faith while in prayer, especially in the American Southwest and in Latin America.

Sergei Kukharenko, a visiting professor to Bemidji State University from Russia, will deliver an Honors Council Lecture on “soft power,” a Chinese policy of creating a positive image of China in order to attract more people to admire Chinese language and culture and want to visit China.
