The Designing with Technology workshop provides a forum for art, communications and/or design faculty and staff in secondary and post secondary schools to share and discuss their instructional processes with their peers in a supportive environment. The participants can also gain a broader understanding of the different programs available within the MnSCU system. We also hope the workshop environment allows faculty to investigate opportunities for partnerships and collaborations within the MnSCU system and explore the possibilities/challenges that may lie ahead for all of us.


MnSCU 4-year university and 2-year college faculty and staff who are involved in an art, communications and/or design related coursework or supervise or direct programs are invited to attend. They are also encouraged to submit a presentation proposal. Other Non-MnSCU secondary and post-secondary faculty in related fields are also encouraged to attend, but will not be making presentations.

The first 40 MnSCU faculty and staff will not pay any registration fee. The MnSCU Center for Teaching and Learning will also provide financial assistance funds to cover 50% of lodging and tax costs if you live over 35 miles from St. Cloud. Mileage and meals in route are not reimbursed by the workshop grant.

Additional MnSCU and non-MnSCU participants will be charged a $60.00 registration fee to cover the additional meals and duplication of workshop materials. No lodging cost refund will be available for Non-MnSCU participants.

All participants are responsible for arranging their own lodging. The evening banquet activities will be at Best Western Americanna Inn at St. Cloud. A block of rooms has been reserved for participants. Simply call 1.320.252.8700 and ask for the “Design Technology Workshop” rate of $73.53 including tax.
