2005 MUPC Submission Guidelines
Students may choose their presentation format: poster or oral presentation. On the submission page, you will be asked to type (or paste as a WORD document) an Abstract of no more than 120 words, and specify the names, e-mail addresses, and institutional affiliations of all presenters, the project’s title, and its content or topic area (e.g., developmental, cognitive, etc.). Make certain you toggle on the desired format: Poster or Oral Presentation.
Posters should be prepared on free-standing tri-fold poster or display boards (available at many retailers); in an open position, this type of board provides a display surface of 48" wide by 36" high. Please use a sufficiently large type font so the text is legible from a distance of 3-4 feet. Bulleted phrases rather than long text passages work best for many sections of a poster. Posters will sit on long cafeteria tables, so the tabletop surface in front of the poster may also be used for the display of handouts or apparatus. Poster presenters will be expected to be present near their posters for their entire session.
Oral Presentations will be limited to 12 minutes with 2 additional minutes for questions. Sessions will be organized topically. Presenters are strongly encouraged to practice their talks before a live audience. Please insure that your remarks will fit into the allotted time. Also, practice will put you at ease, so you may deliver your information from memory rather than reading it. We will have a computer and projector available in each meeting room for displaying PowerPoint presentations.
If you plan to use PowerPoint, you will need to e-mail (with “MUPC Submission” in the subject line) a copy of your PowerPoint presentation as an attachment to Marsha Driscoll at
by noon Friday, April 15; your presentation should be saved with a name that consists of the first six words of the title of your presentation. In other words, you would send an e-mail to Dr. Driscoll with “MUPC Submission” in the subject line; attached would be your PowerPoint presentation named, for example, “The Effects of Reinforcement on Children’s.ppt”. Your PowerPoint presentation will be preloaded onto the appropriate meeting room’s computer.
THE SUBMISSION DEADLINE HAS PASSED. THE PRESENTATION SCHEDULE IS NOW POSTED.
