Symbolic Modeling for Writers Workshop:
What Do You Know?
Drawing heavily on the groundbreaking, psychoanalytic work
of Oxford-trained Maori David Grove, this workshop employs techniques of
symbolic modeling, emergent knowledge, "Clean Language," and "Clean Space" to help writers locate rich subjects, discover hidden knowledge of these subjects,
and symbolically interrogate drafts.
Participants use life-mapping and story-mapping to discover places of
thick memory which provide raw material for writing memoir, poetry or fiction;
and the necessary distance from real or imaginary experiences to be able to
make art.
