| Abstract: Experiencing the Punta Tombo Penguin Colony (Anders Gilstad) Slums as a Way of Life: Lima, Santiago,Montevideo, and Buenos Aires (Allie Osgood) Trekking on the Perito Moreno Glacier (Zach) Preserving a Culture: The Welsh Struggle for Independence in a New Land (Margie). Using their spectacular personal photos, diary entries, research and personal experience, four senior BSU students will present specific components of their study abroad experience in January 2008 in Argentina. Students will reflect from their travel experiences in Buenos Aires, Chubut, The Los Glaciares National Park and the Punta Tombo Provincial Reserve. Anders Gilstad will present information on the unique behavior and habitat of the Magellanic Penguins. Allie Osgood will share information about the false promise of a better life in the big city. Her research will include how specific slum populations in specific cities differ in their make up and history. Zach Ramlow will describe the most famous glacier in the Argentinian National Glaciers Park. Margie Osgood will share research data on how a Welsh group created a community in the Patagonian desert. |
