Dr. Larry Swain has taught at Bemidji State University for five years. He is currently the chair of the English Department.  Dr. Swain specializes in Medieval languages and Medieval literature. He has a B.A. from Seattle Pacific University in Religion, Greek, and Linguistics; and a Master’s Degree in Medieval Studies from Western Michigan University. His P.H.D. is in English which he earned from the University of Illinois in Chicago. Dr. Swain states that his favorite thing about working at BSU is “connecting with his students.” He finds that Bemidji is a nice little town; “not too big, and not too small, but just right.” When he’s not working, Dr. Swain enjoys spending time with his cat, studying Medieval manuscripts, and watching science fiction movies.
