Bio

Dr. Meijer received her Doctoral and Master’s degrees from the University of Minnesota and is a board certified Nurse Practitioner in Women’s Health. During her doctoral studies she was awarded the Minnesota Hartford Scholar for 2009-2010. Her Master’s degree focused on Higher Education and Perinatal Nursing. Bethel College in St. Paul, MN, awarded her Baccalaureate in Science – Nursing degree with Summa Cum Laude distinction. She received the Diploma in Nursing from SBGH in Winnipeg, MB, in Canada.

Since 1999, Dr. Meijer’s teaching career in baccalaureate nursing education is informed by her international work experiences with healthcare for diverse populations in Public Health, perinatal and women’s health nursing, and nursing education for a global society. Throughout her teaching career, Dr. Meijer was Director for long and short term study abroad nursing programs and believes that student learning experiences with people from different cultures informs and facilitates a culture-sensitive, creative and mindful nursing practice.

Her nursing background includes PACU, acute medical/surgical until her practice defined itself in labor and delivery and perinatal care and working with diverse populations. After moving to the US, she worked as PHN in Morrison County Public Health in Maternal Child Health (MCH) and PH Case Manager for sick children and returned to acute OB nursing and women’s health.
