Margaret Maxwell – piano, harpsichord, organ, and class piano – earned a B.S. degree from the University of Illinois where she studied with Soulima Stravinsky and Dr. Malcolm Bilson, continued her study at the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse with Dr. Dallas Weekley, and earned a M.S. degree from Bemidji State University. She has been an adjunct faculty member at BSU since 1980.

For many years Ms. Maxwell was the accompanist for the Bemidji State University Opera Night, the All American Senior Choir, and collaborated with faculty, student, and visiting soloists in many performances each year. She has been the harpsichordist with the Bemidji Baroque Ensemble since the group began more than thirty years ago.

Ms. Maxwell also founded and directed the Bemidji State University Summer Piano Camp for many years. She maintains a large independent piano studio and has taught many state contest winners and others who have continued their music studies as music majors and minors at the college level.

She is a founding member and current president of the North Country Keyboard Teachers Association and a member of the Minnesota Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association. She continues to explore the use of innovative teaching techniques and technology in both the private studio and class setting.
