Spam Filtering – Instructions for Entourage

Creating a rule in Entourage to move mail designated as Spam to a mailbox named SPAM

1. First we are going to have you deactivate the “Junk E-mail protection” folder.

Go click “Tools”, and choose “Junk E-mail Protection”

Click None to turn it off

2. Now we are going to create a rule to filter your Spam messages.

Click Tools
Choose Rules

Click New Rule

Name the rule. We suggest naming it SPAM

Under the “If” criteria, click the up/down arrows next to “All messages”.
Scroll down and choose “Subject”
“Contains” will auto fill to the right of “Subject”,
In the field to the right of “contains” type S-P-A-M
It needs to be typed exactly as above, including the dashes.

In the next section below, click the up/down arrows under “Add Action” where it says “Change Status” and choose “Move message” (up at the top of the list)

In the field to the right, click the up/down arrows next to “Inbox”, choose “Choose Folder”

In the lower left corner of the window, please select the “New Folder button.

Name the folder SPAM and click the “Create” button

Select the newly created “SPAM” folder and click “Choose”

Your completed Rule should like the Rule shown below.

Messages caught by the Spam filter are more than likely Spam. However, we encourage you to periodically open the SPAM folder and make sure there aren’t any messages caught by mistake. If you find specific messages in the folder that you would prefer to come into your inbox, we can create a more specific rule to allow that. Contact us if you need assistance.
