Understanding the Frequent Contacts Address Book in
GroupWise 6, Desktop Client
The Frequent Contacts Address book is different from the rest of your GroupWise Address Books. It allows you to have quick access to addresses of items you have recently sent to or received from. You can control what is in the Frequent Contacts Address Book.
Options
- Click on the tab of your Frequent Contacts book.
- Click File > Properties > click on the Options Tab ( or Right click on the Frequent Contacts address book tab, then select Properties. Click on the Options tab)
- Select the Options you want.

Ideas for cleaning your Frequent Contacts Address Book:
To clean out your Frequent Contacts Address Book, try using Filters. For example, it is not necessary to have BSU employees in your Frequent Contacts Book because they are already in the Novell GroupWise Address Book. Create a filter to select all contacts with @bemidjistate.edu in the email address:
- Open your Frequent Contacts Address Book
- View > Define Custom Filter (or click on the Search List icon in the upper left of the address book window)
- Build a filter as shown below:
- All the items you see should be BSU faculty and staff. To Remove them, Select all (Ctrl+A) and click on the Remove button.
- To see all of your items, View > Filter Off
Moving Names from Frequent Contacts to another Address Book:
You can copy addresses from your Frequent Contacts to another Personal Address Book and Remove them from your Frequent Contacts Address Book.
- Open the Frequent Contacts Address Book
- Click on an entry to select it, or Ctrl+click to select multiple entries
- Right click > Copy to, then select the address book you wish to copy the item(s) to.
- Remove items not needed in your Frequent Contacts Address Book by selecting and removing.
Defining Name Completion Search Order
When you begin typing a name in the To, CC, or BC boxes of an item you are creating, Name Completion tries to complete the name for you. You can determine what Address Books are used for the Name Completion Order and the order that is used. The Novell GroupWise Address Book will always be searched last.
- In the Address Book, click File > Name Completion Search Order.
- In the Available Books Box, click or Ctrl + click the books you want Name Completion to search > click Add.
- To change the search order, select the address book in the Selected Books list > click Down or Up
- Click OK.
NOTE: If Name Completion finds a name that is close to but NOT matching the one you are looking for, you can use the Up or Down arrows to scroll to adjacent names.
Setting the Name Order
You can change the way the names in your address books are listed. The order you select (first_last, or Last_First) will determine how the Name Completion feature works. To change the Name order:
- Open your Address Book
- Click File > Name Order
- Select the order you prefer and the books you want to apply the order to.
