Installing a Network Printer Using Windows 2000
These instructions will show the steps to properly attach to a printer hosted on Bemidji State University NetWare servers. Attaching to a network printer is done to allow printing by multiple computers to a network printer.
Before you begin:
Be sure that the computer you are using is attached to the NetWare server and that you have successfully logged in with a valid username and password (Novell). You must be using a Windows 2000 workstation for these instructions to be useful. Windows 95, 98, XP and NT 4 instructions are not covered in this document.
Open the Printers folder:
Click on the “Start” menu, move the cursor to “Settings” and then click on “Printers”

Double-click the
Add Printer icon.

The Add Printer Wizard opens. Click “Next”

Select the “Network printer” radio button, and click “Next”

Click “Next” to browse for the printer

Double-click NDPS Printers

Double-click NDPS Controlled Access Printers

Your tree and context should appear. Double-click your context

The printers in your building will appear in the following format: “Building””Room”_”Manufacturer””Model"
Locate the printer you want to install and click on it. When the Status is “Ready” click “Next”

Select Yes if you DO want this to be the default printer, click “Next”
Select No if you DO NOT want this to be the default printer, click “Next”

Click “Finish”

The printer will now be available to select from within your programs.
