Configuring Outlook Express 6 or higher
This document describes how to configure Microsoft Outlook Express version 6 or higher for optimal performance with Bemidji State University's NIMS e-mail server. The instructions provided here are for the convenience of our customers only.
Setting ~stmail.bemidjistate.edu~ as a mail server
- From the Tools menu, select E-Mail Accounts to open the E-Mail Accounts dialog. The following dialog box will appear.

- Select "Add a new e-mail account" and click "Next".

- Choose "IMAP" and then click "Next".

- In this window, replace the John Doe with your personal information. Remember that your username has a number in it and always remember to NEVER check "Save Password". When finished, click the "More Settings" button.

- Under the General Tab, make sure to replace John Doe with your personal information.

- Under the "Outgoing Servers" tab, replace John Doe with your personal information. Make sure you un-check "Save Password".

- Under the "Connection" tab, select "Connect using my local area network (LAN)".

- Under the "Advanced" tab, make sure your window looks like the one above, then click "OK".

- When trying to receive your email, a dialog box will pop up that looks like the one above. Put in your password and click "OK".
