What's New in D2L Version 8.3
Orientation Opportunities
|
Check out the new 8.3 version of D2L!
As Karen Wenz (Chancellor's Office) noted in a recent email:
“After the upgrade to version 8.3, the look and feel of D2L will be different and there will be new features for some of the tools, such as Content, Grades, Discussions, and Groups. Your courses and the course materials will be available, but the icons, and the colors and the placement of the icons in D2L will… make the interface more consistent for all tools.”
- Face-2-Face Orientation Sessions: Check your BSU email for announcements
- Self-directed Orientation Information: If you are not able to attend one of the face-2-face orientation sessions, click here to can get an idea of what's new with D2L.

End-of-the-semester Recommendations |
RELEASE THE FINAL GRADE
If you want your students to see their final grade in their D2L class, you must RELEASE the final grade.
Instructions (pdf): How to Release the Final Grade
DISPLAY THE FINAL GRADE
If you notice that there are no grades in the final column of the D2L gradebook, you may need to make a few changes in the Final Grade display settings.
Instructions (pdf): Displaying the Final Grade
CREATE A COPY OF THE GRADEBOOK
You will also want to have a paper copy or an external copy of the gradebook for each class in D2L.
- If your gradebook has only a few items, print out the gradebook. RECOMMENDATION: Set the Orientation for printing to Landscape (rather than the usual Portrait).
- If your gradebook has many items, export the gradebook or copy/paste it into an Excel spreadsheet.
Instructions (pdf): Exporting the Gradebook
BACK UP COURSE FILES
You will also want to have copies of your course files saved outside of D2L. Instructions (pdf): Managing Course Files (scroll to page 3 for instructions on downloading course files)
