Downloading Software from OnTheHub

Register for OnTheHub:

Before you can download software you must register first with OnTheHub.  Open a web browser and navigate to http://bemidjistate.onthehub.com.  

If this is your first time at the site, you will need to register your @live.bemidjistate.edu (student) or @bemidjistate.edu (staff) account.  

  1. Click the Register button or click Sign In at the top right and click the Register button.
  2. Type your email address and click Continue.
  3. Fill in the required information and make sure to select a Group.  Choose any password you like and click Register.
  4. Check your email for the verification.
  5. Click the verification link in the message.
  6. You will be placed into the login page.  Enter the password you used at registration.  Click Sign In.

Liability Disclaimer:

  • BSU Help Desk can not install OnTheHub software for you, but we will assist in answering your questions during the process.

  • BSU Help Desk can not assist operating system installs (Window 7 & 8) due to liability limitations.

  • The download and installation of the software is part of an agreement you enter with Kivuto, and the software manufacturers, not BSU.

  • Staff and Faculty downloads are temporary and valid only while employed by BSU while BSU is enrolled in the Microsoft EES program.  Student downloads are valid as long as student is actively enrolled at BSU.

How To:

Download and Install Office for Mac

This is to get Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook installed on a Macintosh computer running the MacOS.

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to http://bemidjistate.onthehub.com
  2. Click Sign In at the top right.
  3. Authenticate with the email address and password you used at registration.  If you haven't registered yet, follow the steps in section Register for the Downloads listed above.
  4. Click on the Student or Staff tab if not already selected.
  5. Click on the icon Microsoft Office #### for Mac.
  6. Click the Add to cart button for the Free version.
  7. Click Check Out.
  8. Scroll to the bottom of the agreement page and type your email address and name as they appear below the boxes.  Click I Accept.
  9. Complete the survey and click Next.
  10. Click Proceed with Order.
  11. Your Product Key will be shown on the Order Summary screen.  Record or print it for future use.  Click Start Download.
  12. You will also receive an email containing your order information.  It contains a link to get back to the order for Product Key retrieval or download within 30 days of 'purchase'.
  13. A new window should popup showing Get Your Software in 4 Easy Steps.  Click the Download SDM button.  This is the Secure Download Manager.
  14. After the SDM downloads, open your Downloads folder and double click SDM.pkg.
  15. Click Continue.
  16. Click Continue.
  17. Click Agree.
  18. Click Install for me only and click Continue.
  19. Click Install.
  20. After installation is complete, click Close.
  21. Back at the Get Your Software in 4 Easy Steps screen, click Download .SDX.
  22. After the file downloads, open your Downloads folder and double click on the file #############.sdx.
  23. You may have to click Open if your Mac settings are at their defaults for security.
  24. The Secure Download Manager will start.  Click the first Start Download button.  You will NOT need to download Lync.
  25. When the download is complete, click the Launch button.
  26. The Downloads folder will open.  Double click on the ...Office_####_Mac...img file.  It will reside inside an ...Office_####... folder.
  27. The image file will mount (on your desktop).  Double click the MICROSOFTOFFICE#### drive on your desktop.
  28. Double click the ...MACOFC...DMG file.
  29. The Microsoft Office #### disc will mount (on your desktop).
  30. Double click on Office Installer.
  31. Click Continue.
  32. Click Continue.
  33. Click Agree.
  34. Click Install.
  35. After the installation completes, click Close.
  36. Let the Office Updater install any pending updates to the Office suite.
  37. Your Microsoft Office installation is complete.

Download and Install Office for Windows

NOTE: Please uninstall any trial versions of Microsoft Office that may be on your computer before installing the full version.  You can find this by going to Control Panel>>Programs and Features and uninstalling "Microsoft Office".

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to http://bemidjistate.onthehub.com
  2. Click Sign In at the top right.
  3. Authenticate with the email address and password you used at registration.  If you haven't registered yet, follow the steps in section Register for the Downloads listed above.
  4. Click on the Student tab.
  5. Click on the icon Microsoft Office ####.
  6. Click the Add to cart button for the Free version.
  7. Click Check Out.
  8. Click Continue.
  9. Scroll to the bottom of the agreement page and type your email address and name as they appear below the boxes.  Click I Accept.
  10. Complete the survey and click Next.
  11. Click Proceed with Order.
  12. Your Product Key will be shown on the Order Summary screen.  Record or print it for future use.  Click Start Download.
  13. You will also receive an email containing your order information.  It contains a link to get back to the order for Product Key retrieval or download within 30 days of 'purchase'.
  14. A new window should popup showing Get Your Software in 4 Easy Steps.  Click the Download SDM button.  This is the Secure Download Manager.
  15. When prompted, save the file SDM_EN.msi.
  16. After the download, open your Downloads folder and double click the file SDM_EN.msi.
  17. Click Next.
  18. Click I Agree and Next.
  19. Click Next.
  20. After the installation is complete, click Close.
  21. Back at the Get Your Software in 4 Easy Steps windows, click the Download .SDX button.
  22. Save the file ############.sdx.
  23. After the download, open your Downloads folder and double click the file ###########.sdx.
  24. Click the first Start Download button.  This should be the 32 bit version of Office.  If you know you need the 64 bit version, download that one instead.  If you don't know the difference, download the 32 bit version.
  25. After the download is complete, click Launch.
  26. If prompted by UAC, click Yes to allow the program to start.
  27. Enter your Product Key that you received in your order summary.  Click Continue.
  28. Office 2013 note: if asked for your email, look for the Activate With Product Key link instead
  29. Click I accept the terms of this agreement and click Continue.
  30. Click Install Now.
  31. When the installation is complete, click Close.
  32. You are ready to use Microsoft Office.

Download and Install DVD Burning Software on Windows

The following procedure is only for Windows users that want to downoad and 'burn' a DVD for upgrading/installing the Windows operating system on their PC/Laptop.  This is NOT required for the Microsoft Office installation.

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to http://software.lsoft.net/IsoBurner-Setup.exe.
  2. When prompted, click Save.
  3. Open your Downloads folder and double click the file IsoBurner-Setup.exe.
  4. If prompted by UAC, click Yes.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click the option I accept... and click Next.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Click Install.
  9. When prompted for SPTD, click Install.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Uncheck Yes, I would like to launch Active@ ISO Burner and click Finish.
  12. Reboot your computer and proceed with either Download Windows 7 Bootable Media or Download Windows 8 Bootable Media.

Download Windows 7 Bootable Media

This does NOT install Microsoft Office.  This is part of the Windows operating system upgrade for a Windows computer.

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to http://bemidjistate.onthehub.com
  2. Click Sign In at the top right.
  3. Authenticate with the email address and password you used at registration.  If you haven't registered yet, follow the steps in section Register for the Downloads listed above.
  4. Click on the Student tab.
  5. Click on the icon Microsoft Windows 7.
  6. Scroll down to the section Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate.
  7. Click the Add to cart button for the Free version.
  8. Click Check Out.
  9. Click Continue.
  10. Scroll to the bottom of the agreement page and type your email address and name as they appear below the boxes.  Click I Accept.
  11. Complete the survey and click Next.
  12. Click Proceed with Order.
  13. Your Product Key will be shown on the Order Summary screen.  Record or print it for future use.  Click Start Download.
  14. You will also receive an email containing your order information.  It contains a link to get back to the order for Product Key retrieval or download within 30 days of 'purchase'.
  15. A new window should popup showing Get Your Software in 4 Easy Steps.  Click the Download SDM button.  This is the Secure Download Manager.
  16. When prompted, save the file SDM_EN.msi.
  17. After the download, open your Downloads folder and double click the file SDM_EN.msi.
  18. Click Next.
  19. Click I Agree and Next.
  20. Click Next.
  21. After the installation is complete, click Close.
  22. Back at the Get Your Software in 4 Easy Steps windows, click the Download .SDX button.
  23. Save the file ############.sdx.
  24. After the download, open your Downloads folder and double click the file ###########.sdx.
  25. You will have to select the correct version to download, either 32bit or 64bit.
  26. After the download is complete, you should close the Secure Download ManagerDo NOT click the Launch button.
  27. Insert a blank DVD-R into your writable DVD drive.
  28. Open Active ISO Burner from the Start menu.
  29. Click the Browse button in the Source section.
  30. Navigate to your Downloads folder and double click on the folder English_Windows_7_Ultimate....
  31. Change the file type to CD/DVD Image File (*.IMG) at the bottom right.
  32. Click the image file English_Windows_7_Ultimate... and click Open.
  33. Click the Burn button.
  34. When the burn is complete, click Next.
  35. When the burn is complete, remove the disc from the drive and close Active ISO Burner.
  36. You are ready to use the disc to upgrade/install Windows 7.

Download Windows 8 Bootable Media

This does NOT install Microsoft Office.  This is part of a Windows operating system upgrade for a Windows computer.

Check here to find out if your computer is ready for Windows 8.

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to http://bemidjistate.onthehub.com
  2. Click Sign In at the top right.
  3. Authenticate with the email address and password you used at registration.  If you haven't registered yet, follow the steps in section Register for the Downloads listed above.
  4. Click on the Student tab.
  5. Click on the icon Microsoft Windows 8.
  6. Click the Add to cart button for the Free version.
  7. Click Check Out.
  8. Click Continue.
  9. Scroll to the bottom of the agreement page and type your email address and name as they appear below the boxes.  Click I Accept.
  10. Complete the survey and click Next.
  11. Click Proceed with Order.
  12. Your Product Key will be shown on the Order Summary screen.  Record or print it for future use.  Click Start Download.
  13. You will also receive an email containing your order information.  It contains a link to get back to the order for Product Key retrieval or download within 30 days of 'purchase'.
  14. Click the Download link in the Order Summary.
  15. Click Save to the save the file Windows8_Setup.exe to your Downloads folder.
  16. Open your Downloads folder and double click the file Windows8_Setup.exe.
  17. If prompted by the security warning, click Run.
  18. If prompted by UAC, click Yes.
  19. Enter the Product Key from your order.  Click Next.
  20. Click Next.
  21. Updated setup files will download over the internet.  This could take several minutes depending on the speed of your computer and internet connection speed.
  22. You have the ability to install Windows 8 now or later from your desktop, but we are going to create a bootable disc that can be used later.  Click Install by creating media and click Next.
  23. Select the ISO file option and click Save.
  24. The default location for the file to save is in Documents.  Rename the file to Windows8 and click Save.
  25. Click Finish.
  26. If you haven't installed Active ISO Burner yet, follow the steps listed above in section Download and Install DVD Burning Software on Windows and proceed to the next step.
  27. Insert a blank DVD-R into your writable DVD drive.
  28. Open Active ISO Burner from the Start menu.
  29. Click the Browse button in the Source section.
  30. Navigate to your Documents folder and double click on the file Windows8.iso.
  31. Click the Burn button.
  32. When the burn is complete, click Next.
  33. When the burn is complete, remove the disc from the drive and close Active ISO Burner.
  34. You are ready to use the disc to upgrade/install Windows 8.
