This page covers some questions which are asked about the SuperLab the most. These questions range from applications available in the SuperLab to how those applications can be used and accessed.

What applications can I use to write a paper?

First of all, there are many different applications that can be used for word processing.
  • Microsoft Word (MAC and PC)
  • WordPerfect (MAC)
  • Wordpad (PC)
  • Notepad (PC)
Microsoft Word is the most popular choice of students that use the SuperLab. Since it is on both PC and Mac and can be read by both, most prefer it for this reason.
On the desktop, there are a variety of folders with shortcuts inside them. Amongst the choices, one will be labeled "Office". Open the folder by double-clicking it. Inside, you will find a shortcut to Microsoft Word. Open the program by double-clicking the icon and begin typing. Word has many features including a spellchecker. If you have any questions about using Word, ask one of the many SuperLab staff to help you.

How do I get on the Internet?
There are many different applications for "browsing" the internet. Different people have different preferences when it comes to browsing the web, so we offer the two most popular choices.
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer (Mac and PC)
  • Netscape Navigator (Mac and PC)
  • Mozilla Firefox (Mac and PC)
  • Safari (Mac)
To get to these programs, double-click the folder on the desktop labled "Internet". In This folder there will be a variety of icons. Double-click either the Internet Explorer or Netscape icons to get started.
There are some subtle differences between the two, but both were designed for the same propose: Browsing the Web. Since both are available on Mac and PC platforms, users can move from one to the other with relative ease. Try both programs and determine for yourself which is better.
