Connect to a Residence Hall Network Printer
Mac OS X
- Download the drivers for the HP LaserJet 4250 printer by clicking here.
- Double Click the file that you just downloaded to open the disk image.
- Double Click the HP LaserJet v5.7.1.102 installer in the window that manifests.
- You will need to authenticate in order to complete the install. Type in your password for your local computer account in the password box and click OK
- Click Continue.
- Click Continue.
- Click Continue.
- Agree to the license agreement by clicking Agree.
- Click Install.
- Once the installation has completed, click Quit.
- Open Printer Setup Utility by navigating to Applications > Utilities and double clicking its icon.
- Click the Add button.
- Click the More Printers... button.
- Under the Drop-Down menu at the top of the window, choose AppleTalk.
- In the Drop-Down menu just below AppleTalk, choose AppleTalk Network then double click the Residence Hall you are located in.
- A list will populate with printers... sometime it takes a minute to fully populate the list. Click on the printer that corresponds to the Residence Hall you live in, for example: if you live in Maple, you would choose the Maple Desk printer.
- Click Add.
- The printer should show up in your list. Close Printer Setup Utility to complete the setup process.
Windows XP
- Download the drivers for the HP LaserJet 4250 printer by clicking here.

Install the driver for the printer by double clicking the installer you just downloaded.
- Unzip the files into the default directory, "C:\HPLJ4X50 Series" by clicking UnZip then clicking OK when prompted.
- Click Close to exit the HP driver extractor.
- Click Start > Printers and Faxes
- Click Add a printer
- The Add Printer Wizard will start. Click Next on the welcome screen.
- Choose Local printer attached to this computer but be sure to uncheck Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer, click Next.

Choose Create a new port:
- Click on the down arrow by Type of port and select Standard TCP/IP Port
- Click Next. This starts the Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard. Click Next on the welcome page.

For the Printer Name or IP Address enter the IP Address for your building:
- Birch - 199.17.201.11
- Linden - 199.17.192.11
- Tamarack - 199.17.193.11
- Oak - 199.17.197.12
- Maple - 199.17.199.11
- Pine - 199.17.200.11
- Leave the Port Name as the default and click Next.
- Click Finish.
- In the window that manifests, click Have Disk.
- Click Browse.
- Browse to the C:\HPLJ4X50 Series folder and Double Click the hpc4x50d.inf file.
- Click OK.
- Select the HP LaserJet 4250 PS in the list by Double Clicking.
- For the printer name, just use the default and click Next. It is your personal preference if you wish this to be the default printer.
- Click NO when asked if you want to print a test page. Then click Next.
- Click Finish to complete the setup process.
Windows Vista
- Click the Windows Logo > Control Panel.
- Double click the Printers icon in the Control Panel window.
- Click the Add a Printer button.
- Click the Add a Local Printer button.
- Choose Create a New Port and select Standard TCP/IP from the drop-down menu.
- Click Next.

For the Printer IP Address enter the IP Address for your building:
- Birch - 199.17.201.11
- Linden - 199.17.192.11
- Tamarack - 199.17.193.11
- Oak - 199.17.197.11
- Maple - 199.17.199.11
- Pine - 199.17.200.11
- Click Next.
- For the printer name, just use the default and click Next. It is your personal preference if you wish this to be the default printer.
- Click Finish to complete the setup process.
You are restricted to the building that you live in to print to. If you live in Pine you are unable to print to the Oak printer (or vice verse)
