Creating new pages with Savvy
- To create a new page in Savvy log in to Savvy and navigate to your site or a site that is also edited by Savvy. Hover over the 'savvy tools' button in the left corner of the browser.
- In the drop down menu select 'Site'
- In the window that pops up select the template that will be used for the new page.
- Enter the URL of the page starting with the directories that come after http://www.bemidjistate.edu e.g.: academics/departments/biology/
- Make sure there isn't a forward slash at the beginning of the URL e.g.: /academics/departments/biology/ as Savvy automatically enters the beginning slash and this will result in an unfound URL e.g.: //academics/departments/biology/
- At the end of the URL enter the name of the page that you want to insert e.g.: academics/departments/biology/index
- Do not put the file name at the end of the page name e.g.: index.cfm as Savvy already automatically puts '.cfm' at the end of the page name and putting '.cfm' at the end manually will result in an unknown file called 'index.cfm.cfm'
- After entering the new page URL and page name give the page an appropriate title that includes the a meaningful name of the page being created along with a path back to the University's website e.g.: Biology :: Departments :: Academics :: Bemidji State University
- Once the URL and title of the page is complete click the 'create page button'
- After creating a new page a link to this page must be made in order for it to be accessible either on a currently existing page of your site or if necessary by asking web services to add a new item to the navigation. For information on inserting a link in pages see 'Inserting Links'
Delete a page with Savvy
- To delete a page with Savvy navigate to the page that you need to delete. Note: if it is a page that is linked to the main navigation let Web Services know before deleting so that they can update the main links accordingly.
- Hover over the 'savvy tools' button in the left corner of the browser.
- In the drop down menu select 'Pages'
- On the pop-up window select the 'Delete Page' tab
- You now have the choice of disabling the page or deleting the page permanently
- Selecting disabled will cause the page to be unaccessable, but not deleted
- Once you have either disabled or deleted the page you will be taken to the Bemidjistate homepage at which point you can navigate back to your site to make further changes or log-out.
