Residency & Reciprocity

Bemidji State University has received Minnesota State College and University System approval to charge most non-Minnesota resident students the approved Minnesota resident tuition rate.  The state of Minnesota has formal tuition reciprocity agreements with three neighboring states:  Wisconsin, North Dakota, and South Dakota.  To prevent paying a non-resident tuition rate, all students from Wisconsin and North Dakota must apply for tuition reciprocity online. See the Minnesota Office of Higher Education Reciprocity Applications webpage.

South Dakota residents attending a Minnesota State University no longer are required to apply for tuition reciprocity to be eligible to pay the Minnesota resident tuition rate.  All students, from any state in the country other than one of the three reciprocity states, plus all international students, are automatically charged the current Minnesota resident tuition rate.
