BSU to host 6th Annual Northern Minnesota Safety Conference

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Feb. 25, 2011) — Registrations will be accepted through Friday, March 18, for the Sixth Annual Northern Minnesota Safety Conference held from 7:45 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Bemidji.

Designed for safety coordinators looking to improve and enhance their knowledge of today’s leading safety issues, the conference is presented by the Minnesota Safety Council, Northern Minnesota Safety Council and Optivation, a joint venture of Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical College.

Registration for the event is $75. Registration fees include lunch, refreshments and participant materials. Continuing education units are also available. Registration must be completed by the Friday, March 18, deadline.

Noted Minnesota sports author Ross Bernstein will provide the conference’s keynote address, “The Champion’s Code: Life Lessons from the World of Sports.” Bertnstein will discuss the eight traits common among champions and relate those traits to life lessons and stories that translate directly into the world of business.

The morning and afternoon sessions will each feature a number of breakout sessions.

Breakout sessions include topics such as OSHA updates; tips and techniques to keep training interesting and fun for employees; how to establish a safety committee in an organization; electrical safety and workplace ergonomics.

The conference also includes exhibition space for vendors and businesses to display safety equipment, materials or services.
