Acclaimed Flutist to Conduct Master Class at BSU

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Nov. 3, 2011) — The Bemidji State Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is excited to have flutist, Carol Wincenc, to perform Christopher Rouse’s Flute Conerto at their Nov. 13 concert to be held in the Bemidji High School auditorium at 3 p.m.

Wincenc will also be conducting a  master class at Bemidji State University in the Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex at BSU on Friday, Nov. 11.

Wincenc, a professor of flute at the Julliard School in New York City and member of the New York Woodwind Quintet, is one of the most respected flutists today, appearing with orchestras worldwide and premiering works written for her by prominent composers.  A prolific recording artist, Wincenc’s performance of the Rouse Flute Concerto won the Diapson D’Or Award with the Houston Symphony and the Gramophone’s “Pick of the Month” recording with the Buffalo Philharmonic.
