Northern Minnesota Safety Conference set for March 19

Registrations are being accepted through March 5 for the annual Northern Minnesota Safety Conference.

The conference, which is designed to benefit anyone looking to develop and improve their knowledge of contemporary safety issues, will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, in the Family Life Center of Bemidji’s Evangelical Convenant Church.

Registration for the event is $75, which include refreshments, lunch and participant materials.

Business owners, those in management and employees will find break-out sessions that have information to improve safety knowledge of company, department or individual.

This year’s keynote address will be given by Tom Culross, vice president for environment, health and safety at ConAgra Foods. His presentation will focus on challenging conventional wisdom about safety professionals.

Representatives from OSHA will present on global harmonization of hazard classifications and universally compatible labeling systems. The presentation will include a free resource guide which includes materials and guidance for offering training on global standards in a participant’s place of business.

Attendees will hear regulatory updates from OSHA and other regulatory agencies, will learn how to improve employee performance and will have potential for reduced insurance and liability costs. There will also be breakout sessions offering information specific to individual areas of interest and access to vendors offering safety-related products and services.

Door prizes will be available for attendees, including drawings for free attendance to the 2013 Minnesota Safety and Health Conference, held May 14-16 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

The Northern Minnesota Safety Conference is presented by Bemidji State University, Optivation, Minnesota Safety Council and Northern Minnesota Safety Council.
