Veteran alumni relations and development professional Caroline Norelius begins her role as director of alumni relations at Bemidji State University on May 22.
Norelius brings more than 20 years of alumni relations experience to Bemidji State. She has overseen alumni relations operations at colleges and universities across the United States, including University of North Carolina – Wilmington, Western Connecticut State University, Western State College of Colorado, University of Wisconsin – La Crosse and her undergraduate alma mater Eastern Oregon University.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in education, Norelius went on to obtain a master’s in counseling and guidance from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo., and a doctorate in student services administration from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore.
“Caroline’s ideas and experience will make her an immediate asset to the university,” BSU Alumni and Foundation Executive Director Rob Bollinger said. “She will add value for our more than 43,000 alums and help us strengthen the Alumni Association worldwide.”
Norelius has successfully engaged alumni, parents, faculty, staff and business and community members to garner support. Her significant experience working with board and volunteer development, strategic planning and building campus relationships will advance BSU’s efforts to reach out and involve alumni in the university’s future.
“I am deeply honored by this appointment,” Norelius said. “No matter the name – from Bemidji State Teachers College to Bemidji State University – the institution provides an opportunity to have a positive, transformational experience. I look forward to meeting alumni who continue to participate in the life and success of their university.”
