Online Master’s Program in Special Education Touted for Affordability

Bemidji State University’s online master’s degree program in special education has been listed among the 50 most-affordable online graduate special education programs in the country.

The website TopEducationDegrees.org ranked BSU’s program 14th on its list, “50 Most Affordable Online Masters in Special Education Degree Programs 2015.”

BSU’s master of special education program is a 39-credit degree designed for practicing teachers seeking licensure in specific learning disabilities or emotional behavioral disorders. The program’s coursework emphasizes theory to practice in practicum settings, development and modification of curriculum for students with special needs and an understanding of relevant literature and research within the field.

The website compiled its rankings with information from College Navigator. Using this website’s filtering options, Top Education Degrees collected a list of all the U.S. colleges that offer any sort of online graduate program in special education. This lead to a list of nearly 200 schools, where information was collected on in-state and out-of-state tuition and fees at each institution. Values were averaged for each school and then sorted accordingly.
