Three finalists named for Chief Information Officer

Three finalists have been named for the Bemidj State University and Northwest Technical College Chief Information Officer.

Kelly Cummins holds an MBA and bachelor of science in computer information systems from St. Cloud State University. He is currently the Chief Information Officer at Consolidated Equipment Group in Alexandria, Minn. He has previously held technology leadership positions at Southern Illinois University, where he directed Technology Services and Enrollment Technology Services; The H Group, where he was manager of information services, 2008-11); Quick Attach Attachments, Inc., where he was marketing coordinator and database administrator, and at St. Cloud State University, where he was a research analyst and database administrator.

Dr. Al Valbuena holds a doctorate in higher education statistics and an master of science in management information systems from Pennsylvania State University and a bachelor of science in mathematics from the University of Kansas. He is currently the Latin America Division Assistant Vice President at Intelligent Decision Support Systems. He has previously held technology leadership positions in higher education at Bowie State University, where he was Chief Information Officer and vice president for information technology; College of Southern Nevada, where he was vice president of information technology; Franciscan University, where he was director of information technology; and Jersey City State University, where he was manager of management information systems and computer services. He also has served as visiting associate professor of management information systems at Gallaudet University and as programmer/analyst at Pennsylvania State University.

Jim Dillemuth holds a master of education in curriculum and instructional systems and a bachelor of sciencein accounting from the University of Minnesota. He is currently the interim Chief Information Officer at Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical College, and has previously held several technology leadership positions within the MnSCU system. Previous roles have included Chief Information Officer at Minnesota Community and Technical College; system director of the MnSCU Portfolio Management Office; associate vice president of information technology and administrative services at Century College; and director of information technology and telecommunications at North Hennepin Community College. He has also taught mathematics and computer literacy courses, and has served as information technology architect and coordinator of technical support services at the University of Minnesota.
