Talley Gallery to present works of Judith Shea and Richard Bresnahan

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Oct. 2, 2009) — Sculptor Judith Shea and master potter Richard Bresnahan will present an exhibition entitled “The Nature of Process” in the Talley Gallery of the Education Arts Complex on the campus of Bemidji State University from Tuesday, Oct. 13 through Friday, Oct. 30.

The show is being held in conjunction with the Community College Fine Arts Conference, co-hosted by Bemidji State and Hibbing Community College from Oct. 12-14. The conference is a combined effort with Bemidji State’s “It’s Only Clay” conference and focuses on hands-on workshops and seminars featuring guest artists and Bemidji State faculty.

Shea will provide the keynote presentation for the fine arts conference Monday, Oct. 12. That presentation will be held in the Beaux Arts Ballroom of Bemidji State’s Hobson Memorial Union at 6:30 p.m.

Bresnahan is the keynote speaker and demonstrator for the “It’s Only Clay” conference. He will be giving two presentations: “Sustainability: New 21st-Century  Environmental Platorms” at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, in Hagg-Sauer 100; and “Ancient Fires for a Humane Future” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, in the Beaux Arts Ballroom.

All three lectures are free and open to the public.

Faculty for the conference workshops will include Drew Graham, Bonnie Higgins, Frank Sander, Patricia Canelake, Jason Clark, Linda Brooks, Barb Hanus, Linda Brown, Natalia Himmirska, Dorian Beaulieu and Steve Sundahl.

An opening reception for the show will be held on Monday, Oct. 15 from 8-9 p.m.

Located in room 212 of the Education Arts building on the campus of Bemidji State University, the Talley Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The gallery is barrier-free and is open at no charge to the public.
