Natural Resources Continuing Education Consortium: “Getting More Done through Landscape-Level Approaches: an Overview of the Minnesota Forest Resources Council Landscape Program.”
Presenter: Lindberg Ekola, landscape program manager, Minnesota Forest Resources Council

Regional landscape-level management is a voluntary, consensus-based approach to the planning of forest and natural resources and their management. The approach brings together people interested in the long-term health and vitality of a particular region or landscape. The process helps landowners and other stakeholders better understand how forests, wetlands or prairies fit into the larger landscape picture.

Ekola will discuss the Minnesota Forest Resources Council Landscape Program and its recent accomplishments, which has been recognized as a national model. This presentation will have special importance for organizations facing greater demands with fewer resources by providing insights on ways to increase results in sustainable forestry through collaborative landscape-level approaches. The council was created as a result of the Sustainable Forest Resources Act passed by the Minnesota legislature in 1995.
