Homecoming 2013 events begin Sept. 23

Student activities kick off Homecoming Week Monday, Sept. 23 with week-long competitions for students during the day and comedian Josh Rabinowitz performing at 7 p.m. in Hagg-Sauer 100. A Beaver Rally for students and the community Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. on the Lakeside lawn will show support for BSU teams and include the coronation of Homecoming royalty.

Activities get into high gear Thursday, Sept. 25, with the first three of 11 Alumni Leaders in the Classroom (ALIC) programs that bring BSU grads back to campus to share their professional experiences with students, staff and the public. The remaining eight ALIC panels take place throughout the day Friday. Friday is also the date of what promises to be a historic Alumni and Foundation Honors Gala, which begins with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. at the Sanford Center. All are welcome to attend this event, but pre-registration is required by Sept. 16.

Saturday brings tailgating in Diamond Point Park beginning at 11 a.m. leading into BSU’s football game against Southwest Minnesota State at 1 p.m. Immediately following the football game, alumni football players will gather at the American Indian Resource Center and Native American alumni will get together at the David Park House. Saturday’s events end on a high note with the annual Beaver Block Party in downtown Bemidji. The Bemidji Area Alumni Chapter organizes this event. Proceeds benefit scholarships the chapter supports.
