SAN

The SAN, or Storage Area Network, provides network accessible data storage for students, faculty, and staff. By design a SAN has redundant features, such as drive arrays, controllers, and power supplies, that help protect against potential data loss due to hardware failure. The SAN is also backed up to disk storage maintained in another location, and also to tape storage, which in turn is rotated off-site, providing additional protection for important files.

ITS replaced and expanded SAN storage to provide more data storage space for all users. Users now have access to safe, secure SAN storage for data.

If you are currently storing important data on a local hard disk drive rather than the SAN, ITS STRONGLY recommends backing up critical data on your local had disk to alternative media, such as USB jump drives, CDs, or DVDs.
