Admissions Office-University Ambassador

Job Description: The Office of Admissions serves as the “first contact” for prospective students and their families.  Its purpose is to market the University and to present a positive image to the public and community.  The University Ambassadors function as a major part of the recruitment, public relations efforts, and maintenance of Bemidji State University’s “personal” approach to an education.  The position entails six to twelve hours per week during the academic school year, including day and/or evening hours.


After School Activity Assistants

Job Description:  Activity assistants work with elementary students in our after school program starting at 2:30 pm each school day.  Ending times range from 5:00 - 5:45 pm.  Full days are available on some school release days (open 7:30-5:45 pm; all or part of those hours may be available).  Positions exist at five of Bemidji's elementary schools: Central, JW Smith, Horace May, Lincoln and Northern.  Assistants build relationships with children engaging them in a variety of activities such as art, crafts, board games, gym and outdoor games and activities, computer activities, homework assistance and play!  An awesome opportunity for anyone who plans to work with children.  Most positions must be filled by mid August, and more staff will be hired spring semester, but some additional positions, including substitutes, will be available throughout the year. 


America Reads / America Counts Tutors

Job Description:  An outstanding job opportunity is available to current work-study eligible students who are currently seeking a degree which will involve children.  "America Reads is a program designed to ensure that every child will read independently and on grade level by the time they leave the third grade."  "America Counts provides help, personal attention and additional learning time for students who need extra assistance in mastering the fundamentals of mathematics in elementary school."  Students will be eligible to tutor grades K-5 for both program



Boys and Girls Club of Bemidji Asst. Sports, Fitness & Recreation Coordinator

Job Description: Plan, implement and evaluate programs and activities in the Gym as well as other areas of the Club as needed. 10-15 hours per week depending on work-study allotment, approximate hours are between 2:45-6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Applicants should be at least 18 years old with previous experience working with youth.

Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and must pass a criminal background check to be eligible for the position. Deadline for applications is Wednesday, January 30, 2007.

Job Description:  General office support including answering phones, greeting visitors, filing, copying, computer related work, basic web site maintenance, running errands, light office and lounge cleaning and all other duties as assigned.  Requires attention to detail as well as with good communication skills.  General computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new skills is essential along with working in a team environment.  Experience in Word And Excel required; Access a plus.  Must be Work Study eligible and be available to work during breaks.


Community Education Office, Bemidji School District

Job Description:  Looking for a person to assist in a fast paced office within the school district in the Community Education Office.  Must be highly energetic, responsible, reliable and consistent to assist the Community Education team;  duties include customer friendly walk-ins, phone registrations, using the computer to record registration, program flyer distribution and maintaining program organization.  Community Education programs include Youth Services/Sports, Aquatics, Evening Enrichment classes and Kids and Company.  Must be able to work ten (10) consistent hours per week and we will work around a BSU class schedule.


Event Management

Job Description: Event Management has three positions open:

-Event staff for BSU Athletic Events. This position includes program sellers, promotion sales, ushers, and other staff as needed for each event.
-Mascot for all BSU athletic events and other events as needed.
-Play by Play and Color Commentator for BSU Volleyball, Men's and Women's Basketball internet broadcasts.  Must be able to speak clearly and some experience is preferred.


General Maintenance Worker

Tutoring/Mentor

Job Description:  CLASS is looking for students with strong academic skills and a willingness to teach those skills and course content to other students.  Tutors in the subjects of math (esp. 0800, 1100, and 1110); general and intro to biology; physical science; history; geography; chemistry; genetics; psychology; sociology; accounting and statistics are needed.  Students will need to be able to tutor more than one subject area (at least at the liberal education level).  Tutors must have a B in courses they plan to tutor and provide two letters of recommendation from current BSU faculty.  Applications are available by request from Khagen@bemidjistate.edu.
