Copiers & Paper

Campus Copiers/Multi Function Devices

Bemidji State University has leased copiers/multi function devices located in various strategic areas around campus for departmental use.  Departments are charged for copies made on a monthly basis.  Copies are tracked by account numbers and access codes.  The current charge back rate as of January 1, 2009 is $.06 per black copy and $.55 per color copy.

Copiers are placed based on volume history in the area.  The higher the volume, the more features available on the copier, because higher volume can cover the cost of more efficient features.

Toner and service are included in the cost of the maintenance contract and can be ordered online, by phone or by e-mail.  The vendor contact information can be found on the sticker on the copier.  The identification number of the copier will need to be provided when you call.  If you have a Toshiba, call 800-927-1983 or visit www.accesstoshibasupport.com.  If you have a Savin,  send an email to support@abmnow.com.

You will never be contacted by the vendors requesting copier information.  If you receive such a call, it is more than likely a toner scam.  DO NOT PROVIDE YOUR COPIER INFORMATION TO THESE CALLERS!

If you need a code added or deleted from a copier, please send an email to: mbock@bemidjistate.edu
Include the name of the person it is for and the cost center that will pay for the copies.

The networked copiers can also be used for scanning to e-mail.  There is no charge for this.  You are encouraged to use scan to e-mail whenever possible to avoid printing and faxing costs.  We recommend scanning the document to yourself first and then forwarding it on through e-mail.  That way you have a record of the document being sent.

To add e-mail addresses on a Toshiba press:

USER FUNCTIONS (on the copier)
ADDRESS (on the touch screen)
ADDRESS BOOK (on the touch screen)
Arrow down until you find an open box.  Press it and enter the desired info.

If you want to add an e-mail address on a Savin, see the Office Manager in that area.

Note about Copier and Printer Paper:

White 8.5x11 paper for printers and copiers is available for purchase through Central Receiving. Central Receiving complies with and usually exceeds Minnesota Statutes instructions to state agencies to purchase paper with a minimum of ten percent recycled content. If you choose to purchase paper elsewhere, please purchase paper with a minimum of ten percent (10%) recycled content to help the university comply with Minnesota Statutes 16B.121-122. Thank you.

Toner Recycling

BSU and NTC are teaming up with Toshiba to keep any imaging consumables from ANY photocopier, printer, or fax machine out of the landfills. Close the Loop takes back toner cartridges, toner bottles, inkjet cartridges, drum, fusers, and more. Thanks to our staff in the Mailroom, you can send all of these items there where collection boxes for recycling are placed. Please put items in a separate bag or box marked "Toner Recycling" and place them next to your mail bag. PLEASE DO NOT PUT THEM IN THE MAILBAG. Leaking toner will ruin the mail and the bag. It is that easy!
