Wireless Information

The State of Minnesota currently has a contract for wireless services with Alltel, Sprint and Verizon*. Bemidji State University participates in the Telecom: Wireless Services - Cellular Telephones and PDA's Contract administered by the Materials Management Division of Admin Minnesota.

BSU issued cell phones and PDAs are for business use only. Personal use of cell phones and PDA's is prohibited. For more information, please refer to following for more information:

BSU's primary contract vendor is Verizon. All communications with Verizon are conducted through Telephone Services. Please do not contact or go to a Verizon outlet for anything related to your state contract cellular service or equipment unless directed to do so by the Bemidji State University Telephone Services office. All service and equipment business must be conducted through Marie Bock, Telephone Service Coordinator in the BSU Telephone Services office. To obtain a BSU cell phone, complete the telephone services request and authorization form.

When your cell phone arrives, Telephone Services will contact you to make arrangements for you to pick up your cell phone. All cell phone users are required to sign the State of Minnesota Acknowledgement of Receipt Cellular Telephone Services and Equipment Agreement prior to taking possession of the cell phone. Alltel primarily serves Southern Minnesota. Sprint primarily serves Central Minnesota (metro). Verizon primarily serves Northern Minnesota. For more information on what each vendor offers, contact Telephone Services.

Miscellaneous Cell Phone Billing Information

Directory Assistance is NOT free. You will be billed for using Directory Assistance.  If you have the Directory Assistance Operator connect your call, you will also be charged more per minute.

Mobile to mobile calls are only free between Verizon customers.
