Bemidji State University is committed to protecting the welfare of its community members as well as its property, equipment and facilities. The university strives to minimize the impacts of emergencies and maximize the effectiveness of the campus community in responding to and recovering from their inevitable occurrences. Doing so will provide continuity of campus operations in furtherance of the university's mission.
To ensure the safety of BSU Community Members the University has developed extensive emergency plans, which are recommended as general guidelines for students, faculty, and staff, in the event an emergency arises. The university's primary concern is the safety, health, and well being of all BSU Community Members. All decisions reflect this ethic.
We encourage students and employees to read and become familiar with the guidelines/ recommendations to better prepare you in the event of an emergency. The recommendations are developed to minimize the negative effects resulting from an emergency. Its further recommend that you regularly review the information in the campus emergency plan as it's frequently revised and updated. BSU's campus emergency plan is made available to download and print for quick access to better prepare and protect yourself and your co-workers.
In today's society, we must be more vigilant of surrounding influences that can affect the safety of our community. Medical emergencies, disasters, accidents, injuries, and crime can occur at any time without warning. It's the University's goal that by working together we can be pro-active to emergencies in a timely manner.
