Green Fee Mini-Grants

Bemidji State University students or student groups can apply for a green fee mini-grant, not to exceed $500, which promotes sustainability on campus.

Priority will be given to applications that fall within four target areas. Applications will be evaluated by the Green Team.

Purpose

The primary purpose of Green Fee Mini-Grants is to provide financial support to students wanting to promote sustainability at Bemidji State University.

Target Areas

  1. Energy, water or habitat conservation
  2. Waste reduction or recycling
  3. Renewable energy
  4. Environmental education

Eligibility

  • Only students or students groups of Bemidji State University are eligible to apply for funds
  • Funds requested must support at least one of the four target areas

Evaluation Criteria

  • Primary focus for the project is to enhance sustainability at Bemidji State University
  • Project ties directly with at least one of the four target areas
  • Preference given to projects that encompass more than one target area
  • Preference is given to groups and organizations that collaborate on the project
  • Quality of application (clear, detailed, well-written)
  • Evidence of sound financial planning and a realistic marketing plan
  • Amount requested does not exceed $500

Guidelines

  • Application must be submitted at least 14 days prior to requiring funding date. No funding will be given to programs held prior to review of application.
  • A reasonable and realistic budgeting process must be in place for the project
  • All students/groups must have a faculty project advisor
  • Green Fee Mini-Grants do not fund projects in which there is an intent to make a profit or donate money to charitable causes or individual organizations
  • Green Fee Mini-Grants do not fund individual wages
  • Recognition of the Green Fee as a sponsor or co-sponsor must be included on all printed materials
  • A Post-Assessment of the project must be turned in to be eligible for future projects

Application Due dates

Applications can be turned in by the 1st and 3rd Friday, September through April. Applicants will be notified within one week of the due date.

Applications must be turned in to the Sustainability Coordinator by 4:00 p.m. on the application deadline. Any questions may be directed to the Sustainability Project Manager, Jordan Lutz.
