Dr. Roland E. Barden, President Emeritus, Minnesota State University, Moorhead

"Bemidji has been on my mind since 1955 or so, when, as a boy, I was included in a fishing party headed down U.S. Highway 2 to Fairbanks, MN. My hometown then was 17 miles north of U.S. Highway 2 in northwestern North Dakota. A B.S. (chemistry) graduate of the University of North Dakota with M.S. and Ph.D. degrees (biochemistry) from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, I was a post-doctoral fellow and instructor at Case Western Reserve University for three years prior to 18 years on the faculty of the University of Wyoming. In the fall of 1989, we came to Moorhead and Minnesota State University, Moorhead. I first served as vice president for academic affairs for five years and then as president for 14 years. We continue to enjoy the north country and living in Fargo-Moorhead."
