Student Fee Assessment Policy

Recommendations for the allocation of student fee monies are made by the Student Activities and Fee Allocation Committee (SAFAC) to the Vice President for Finance and Administration. Activities generally funded include men's and women's intercollegiate athletics, campus recreation, music, theater and Hobson Union Programming Board. 

The method and level of student fee assessment is subject to change.  For current published student fee rates, refer to the table below. The athletic fee is used to support the university's Division II athletic programs, which includes student admission to regular Division II athletic contests.

The health services fee is used to support the Health Services program within the Student Center for Health and Counseling. The Center provides a wide range of health services for students, to include office visits, procedures, supplies, immunization clearances and vaccinations.

The student activity fee is used to provide for a wide and balanced range of student activities that complement the curricular offerings of the institution.  Student activities include lectures, concerts, dramatic and other such activities of any nature contributing to the mental, moral and cultural development of the student body.

The Student Union Facility fee supports the overall operation of the student union facilities, to include staffing; building maintenance, repair and renovation; utilities; and supplies and other expenses.

  Per Credit
The MSUSA fee is for membership in the Minnesota State University Student Association.  Each campus student association shall be affiliated with its statewide student association and all students enrolled on those campuses shall be members of their respective statewide association.
The technology fee is used for the acquisition, upgrading and maintenance of technology that supports academic and student activities, to include lab computers, software licensing, printers, network infrastructure, and technology support. The fee is also used to provide or enhance student access to technology.
  Per Semester Charge (Flat Rate)
The Green Fee is used to promote the university’s commitment to sustainability.
The transcript fee covers the cost of official transcripts requested by the student from the time of enrollment through all future requests.
