Web Designer

Role of the Web Designer: The Web Designer is a part of the HMU team. This position reports to the Associate Director. The responsibilities are:

  1. Meet regularly with the Associate Director and/or other administrators to discuss schedules, priorities, processes, and outcomes
  2. Maintain communication with departmental clients and service providers in a timely manner
  3. Use web site design skills and software to create and post timely web site content that promotes the events, activities, and programs of HMU and our campus partners
  4. Adhere to existing visual identity standards
  5. Establish and maintain a production schedule that meets needs of HMU
  6. Contribute to the on-going development of the departmental web site by suggesting web site upgrades that increase functionality
  7. Track web site activity
  8. Be flexible to work with other design related projects, other then web (i.e. print)
  9. Have strong design skills
  10. Be able to work creatively inside of set visual identification standards
  11. Be willing to learn new skills when needed for a job
  12. Effectively plan and carry out a promotional campaign for various HMU activities and functions.
  13. Represent HMU at University events as designated
  14. Attend HMU staff meetings as needed
  15. Other duties assigned

As the Web Designer, you must be able to work with several different computer programs to help you write and advertise the department electronically.

Requirements:

  1. Submit a portfolio that showcases proven web site design skills
  2. Be proficient in any of the following: Dreamweaver MX, Adobe CS2, HTML, FrontPage
  3. Be proficient in content management software, including BSU?s system
  4. Be willing and able to learn the requirements and practices of the ADA to ensure compliance
  5. Work collaboratively in a PC environment
  6. Work collaboratively with other members of HMU staff, university partners, students, and other users
  7. Understand and adhere to prescribed visual branding systems and standards
  8. Understand and adhere to applicable copyright laws
  9. Manage administrative priorities, requests, and production schedules
  10. Maintain professional discretion with proprietary information
  11. Maintain regular schedule for office hours to meet with supervisor
