Web Designer
Role of the Web Designer: The Web Designer is a part of the HMU team. This position reports to the Associate Director. The responsibilities are:
- Meet regularly with the Associate Director and/or other administrators to discuss schedules, priorities, processes, and outcomes
- Maintain communication with departmental clients and service providers in a timely manner
- Use web site design skills and software to create and post timely web site content that promotes the events, activities, and programs of HMU and our campus partners
- Adhere to existing visual identity standards
- Establish and maintain a production schedule that meets needs of HMU
- Contribute to the on-going development of the departmental web site by suggesting web site upgrades that increase functionality
- Track web site activity
- Be flexible to work with other design related projects, other then web (i.e. print)
- Have strong design skills
- Be able to work creatively inside of set visual identification standards
- Be willing to learn new skills when needed for a job
- Effectively plan and carry out a promotional campaign for various HMU activities and functions.
- Represent HMU at University events as designated
- Attend HMU staff meetings as needed
- Other duties assigned
As the Web Designer, you must be able to work with several different computer programs to help you write and advertise the department electronically.
Requirements:
- Submit a portfolio that showcases proven web site design skills
- Be proficient in any of the following: Dreamweaver MX, Adobe CS2, HTML, FrontPage
- Be proficient in content management software, including BSU?s system
- Be willing and able to learn the requirements and practices of the ADA to ensure compliance
- Work collaboratively in a PC environment
- Work collaboratively with other members of HMU staff, university partners, students, and other users
- Understand and adhere to prescribed visual branding systems and standards
- Understand and adhere to applicable copyright laws
- Manage administrative priorities, requests, and production schedules
- Maintain professional discretion with proprietary information
- Maintain regular schedule for office hours to meet with supervisor
