SOCIAL WORK IN A LATIN AMERICAN CONTEXT
COOPERATIVE STUDIES PROGRAM IN CUERNAVACA, MEXICO
Bemidji State University is a participant in the Cooperative Studies Program for the purpose of operating an undergraduate academic semester program of study in Cuernavaca, Mexico. The Program is known as the Social Work Semester Program (SWSP). The SWSP is administered by the Center for Global Education at Augsburg College, who serves as the SWSP Managing Director.
Program administrationThe Center for Global Education at Augsburg College, 2211 Riverside Ave., Minneapolis, MN, 612-330-1159, is responsible for the daily administration of the SWSP along with its satellite office in Cuernavaca, Mexico at the Centro de Educacion Mundial America Latina (CEMAL) study center.
Selection and Obligations of StudentsEach member institution selects its own participants, but to be accepted into the Program, students must meet the following criteria:
- 2.5 GPA
- 1 college-level Spanish course or its equivalent
- approval of the home institution’s study abroad office, if applicable
- social work major at a CSWE accredited school
The Center for Global Education has final approval of all students participating in this program.
