Alpha Phi Sigma is a National Honor Society founded in 1930 at Northeast Missouri State Teachers College. The function of Alpha Phi Sigma is to give preferment and honor to those who have achieved a high standard of scholarship and fine thinking. Its purpose is to recognize scholarship and to encourage a continued love for learning. Qualified junior and senior candidates are invited to apply based upon academic credentials at universities with active local chapters. Members receive official recognition of membership for use on vitae, resumes, and graduate school applications. National Membership is a one-time application with national dues being paid once for a life-time.
