In addition to concerts, tours, and recordings, the
choir has production a series of Madrigal Dinners for its Fourty years!
The Madrigal Dinners are an annual musical dinner production of music
and skits put on by the BSU music department in which they recreate
Elizabethan England for the recreation of a yuletide feast in a
renaissance castle, complete with the Royal Court, Beggars, Minstrels,
Recorders, the Royal Brass and Troubadours. This organization is
dedicated to presenting the annual Madrigal Dinner. This traditional
Yuletide feast is a representation of a 16th century celebration.
The Dinners, founded by Dr. Paul Brandvik began in 1968. It combines
musical, visual, dramatic and culinary arts into an evening that
transcends time. The Royal Court is portrayed by the Bemidji Chamber
Singers. The other vocal, instrumental (brass and recorders) and acting
parts are filled by audition early in the Fall Semester. The Dinners
have been performed in Washington, Wisconsin and in the Twin Cities. On
the BSU campus they are performed the first and second weekends in
December.
