The First Year Experience Seminar |
All new entering freshmen enroll in the First Year Experience Seminar (FYE). This is a semester-long course intended to continue a student's orientation to the University throughout the first months of the college experience. New students initiate their orientation to the University with participation in AAR. FYE extends and enhances experiences and information introduced during AAR. FYE Seminars are offered by faculty from almost every academic department on campus and will introduce new students to professional staff and other peers with whom they might not ever have the opportunity to meet and develop associations. An exceptional supplement for the Liberal Education curriculum, FYE will continue to guide students through their first semester on campus. It is a unique learning environment and curriculum that can potentially secure a student's future. The First Year Experience seminar can encompass many objectives including: improving academic and life skills; experimenting with new strategies; learning the rules of the institution; forming support groups; and getting acquainted with college and community resources. |
